Hanging Wallpaper... disaster

Pretty Wallpaper!
I've never hung wallpaper before, now I know why!

Its so hard!!

Ive been watching youtube videos in the lead up to the big WP day. I wished I had watched 100 more... I was definitely under prepared! 😩

Here is a link to a B&Q one that I watched https://youtu.be/aRnjWu1B9oE they make it look so easy

So I bought my handy kit for all my wall papering needs. I have to say that for £13.99 I was quite impressed with this bit of kit. It comes with everything you need, but be careful the cutting tool is sharp. As i found out after i cut my finger!! If you are feeling like you want to attempt some wallpapering...hopefully my post wont put you off then here is a link for you

Next I learned that you need to find a plumb line... wtf is a plumb line you may ask! Well its a line which is found using a weight. I had to nail a peice of string to the wall (hard in itself on your own) once the metal bit has stopped swinging you need to draw a line fron the ceiling along to the floor or skirting board.

Once you have the line you need to have the first peice along this line.

Tip one: never send a man out for supplies!

Mr R brought home ready mixed paste the wall paste, I needed paste the wallpaper paste but I still used it anyway.. maybe this was part of my downfall...oops!

First piece of paper, I cut to size, leaving a bit of excess to cut off and I smoothed the paste onto the wallpaper

See my fancy folding below:

For every other bit I decided to paste the wall and then hang the paper.

Its so hard to get the paper straight, stop air bubbles and make sure the joins aren't to big or overlapping!

And this is me nearly done

Tip two: Never let a man take over! The husband decided to tell me that I wasn't cutting straight so I let him have a go and he messed a piece up (he blamed the cutting tool...of course)

So its finally done and I am glad its over, its far from a piece of art but it will do. Safe to say I wont be wallpapering again anytime soon! Lets hope my next project is more successful.

Ignore the awful furniture, this shall soon be replaced once we have the funds. I would be tempted to upcycle these bedroom drawers but they are too big since we have made this bedroom smaller.

I bought the wallpaper from I Love Wallpaper, I liked it because its quite subtle and I thoutht that it would be an easy pattern to match

So far Mr R hates it 😂 Im not too sure on it either. Thankfully this is only the spare room that we have recently made smaller to make room for a bigger bathroom.

So tell me have you hung wallpaper before? How did it go! Tell me in the comments below

With Love
