Evening Skincare Routine

Hi!

So I wanted to share with you the products that I currently use in my evening routine, I will do/have done individual posts on some of the products.

1st Step - Double Cleanse

I use the Pixi Double cleanse, it's a fab little double cleanser that was created by Pixi in conjunction with Caroline Hirons AKA Hero.

One side is a an oil cleanser, it is Da Bomb! I love this!

I rub this cleansing oil into my skin until it's completely covered, I then add a little water and rub it some more until it's a creamy/ milky texture.

I then get a clean muslin cloth (Usually an old one of Rocco's) and rinse all of the product off my face.

I  then repeat this with cream cleanser side hence the word double cleanse.

I have got to say that this is the most amazing cleanser, I would compare the oil side to Eve Lom which is much more expensive. The reason I like the Pixi cleanser is because it really cleans my EL Double Wear off so well and at the same time it doesn't feel harsh. The scent is light and it feels that it's genuinely putting goodness into my skin.

My skin feels extremely soft and clean after using this.

The Cleansing Oil contains:
  • Evening Primrose oil to Heal
  • Vitamin E to Moisturise
  • Camelia Oil to Nourish

The Cleansing Cream contains:
  • Vitamin C which helps produce collagen
  • Arginine which increases cell renewal
  • Peptide complex to help plump and smooth out fine lines

2nd Step - Tone / Exfoliate

I use the Pixi Glow Tonic as an exfoliating toner, when I use this I do really feel that I am removing the dead skin cells. My skin looks glowing after and feels tighter too

It contains:
  • 5% Glycolic Acid which acts as a mini skin peel
  • Aloe Vera to hydrate
  • Ginseng to nourish and treat
3rd Step - Spot Treatment

With my Polycystic PCOS skin I almost always have spots! I have just recently started to use this Origins Super Spot Remover and it really is super! I want to do a post on this so I won't go into too much detail but you put it on the spots overnight and it dramatically reduces the spot (it almost flattens it) 💃

It contains:
Salicylic Acid which targets the spot and helps speed up the healing process
Caffeine & red Algae to calm inflammation

Basically it is God!

4th Step - Serum

I have recently run out of my most favourite Serum Dr Sebagh but it is way too expensive for me to repurchase at this stage in my life!

So I have replaced this with Pestle and Mortar another of Ms Hirons recommendations. I try to make sure that my Serums contain hyaluronic acid as this is a superstar in skincare, this natural substance can help our skin retain moisture. My research suggests that one gram of HA can hold up to 6 litres of water... WOW!

I put a few drops onto my skin and rub it in, it almost smells coconutty. It glides on so well and absorbs immediately.

My skin feels plump the next day and I have notice that the skin around my cheeks just below my eyes and my forehead is much smoother .

I love the packaging too! 😊

5th Step - Tan & Moisturise
Moisturise my face with The Body Shop Vitamin E moisturiser.

I love using this on my skin as it goes on lovely and absorbs quickly, I cannot stand having a sticky face.

I also love it because of the ingredients, it contains:

  • Vitamin E for plumping
  • Hyaluronic Acid for moisture
  • Aloe Vera (another of my fave products)

My only negative of this is that it is a small pot, I would like it to contain more (of course!)

Tan with Clarins Radiance Boost drops please see previous blog post here: http://prettyfaceprettyhome.blogspot.co.uk/2017/04/time-to-get-summer-glow-clarins.html

6th Step - Eyebrow Balm
Now this is something that came in my Yearly Christmas Advent calendar box, this year I got the Liberty Beauty Advent Calendar.
I'm not sure how I feel about this product. My eyebrows are absolutely awful, I have no idea what to do with them so you will never see me giving advice on how to do these badboys.

I use this balm each night because it gives my eyebrows a nice shape as it flattens them to my head lol! I don't think so far that it has helped tame the bush just yet.

Eyes
I haven't specifically mentioned a product for my eye area just yet because it's something that I am still looking to purchase. Most recently I have been using Estee Lauder's eye cream  which I thought was ok, I like the consistency of the product but unsure if it made much difference. Now that I am 28 I do think that this is something that I need to invest in. The thing that puts me off is that you get so little in a pot for such an expense and I can't help think that with all the other products that I put on my face would these not also help the eye area?

I'm not sure, I think I need to do some more research on this before I spend my hard earned cash.

And Finally.....
I'm a big believer on what goes in must come out and therefore my insides need to be healthy in order to produce healthy outsides.

For this reason I take two lots of Vitamins each day,

  • Cod Liver Oil  - Contains Cod Liver oil, Vitamin A & Vitamin  D

These help maintain healthy Skin, Bones  & Brain

  • Womens Health Vitamins - Contains Evening Primrose & Starflower Oil plus numerous vitamins for healthy immune system.

These help promote hormone balance (to help with the PCOS) and also energy levels and immunity.

Both can be purchased from Tesco and they usually offer a 3 for 2 deal.

We should also drink more water, not smoke, not too much Sugar/Alcohol/Caffeine....... bla bla bla (We need to live right!)

I hope you've enjoyed reading this post, I'm not expert on skincare but hopefully it can give you an idea of what steps to follow if you are unsure.

What is your routine, what are your favourite products? Please share with me in the comments below.

With Love
Mrs R xx
